2016 San Diego Festival of Beer

The 2016 San Diego Festival of Beer is San Diego’s original beer festival, celebrating it’s 22nd year with their biggest and best festival yet from 6pm to 10pm on Friday September 23, 2016 on the Broadway Pier in Downtown San Diego. When considering that some of San Diego’s best known breweries like Stone, Alesmith, and Ballast Point have only recently celebrated their 20th anniversary it’s quite an accomplishment that the San Diego Festival of Beer has been around for twenty two years.

This year there are 40+ breweries participating, with a majority of them being local to San Diego or California. Some of the great local breweries participating include Amplified Ale Works, Pure Project, Thorn St. Brewery, Burning Beard, Monkey Paw, Hillcrest Brewing, and Bay City, among many others. The festival also features some major names like Alesmith, Ballast Point, and Coronado Brewing from San Diego and other well known breweries from California Firestone Walker and Lagunitas, as well as some more distant well known names like Deschutes and Guinness. This makes up a solid mix of different breweries and means that there’s likely something for everyone to enjoy, no matter what their taste in beer.

There will also be a number of great vendors including Criscito Pizza and Devilicious, as well as live music from local San Diego band Lady Dottie and the Diamonds. The festival takes place at the Broadway Pier, which sits right on the San Diego Bay and fully takes advantage of the beautiful weather that the city is well known for.

A nonprofit group, San Diego Professionals Against Cancer (SDPAC), runs the San Diego Festival of Beer as a fundraising event every year, making this a great way to have a ton of fun while raising money for a great cause that donates to organizations like Rady Children’s Hospital and the Grossmont Hospital Foundation.
