Stone Encore Series 14th Anniversary Emperial IPA
After a year of awesome releases from their illustrious past, it’s time for the Stone Encore Series to come to an end. The final beer will be the Stone Encore Series 14th Anniversary Emperial IPA, a beer inspired by British IPAs of the 1800s. Originally released in 2010, the Encore Series re-release is coming just over six years after the original.
The inspiration for Stone’s 14th Anniversary Emperial IPA came when some members of Stone’s team travelled to England to seek out a greater understanding of the India Pale Ale style. Their experience in the UK prompted Stone to create a Double IPA with all British ingredients in their own unique style.
Featuring Target, East Kent Golding, and Boadicea hops, as well as a rare yeast strain and “Burtonised” water (it’s not clear what Stone actually did to their Colorado River water source they have to make it more like the water of Britain), the iconic brewing company went out of its way to use interesting ingredients from abroad for this beer.
Stone has listed the release date for the Stone Encore Series 14th Anniversary Emperial IPA to as November 7, 2016 and has a beer locator listed on the page for the beer to find where it is available near you. As with other beers released in the Encore Series earlier this year, the Emperial IPA is slated for national distribution in 22oz bottles and on draft.
It will be a shame to see the Encore Series end after a great year of re-releases from Stone’s past. As a celebration of Stone’s 20 year Anniversary, the Encore Series featured a number of their most notable and celebrated anniversary beers and other releases from over the years. Make sure to grab a piece of Stone Brewing’s history when the 14th Anniversary Emperial IPA hits shelves again soon for a limited time.
